Time To Make The Coffee
things you'll need
- AeroPress
- AeroPress filter
- 8oz coffee mug
- Boiling water
- Coffee (we recommend Blue Ox Blend)
- AeroPress scoop or Tablespoon
things you’ll want
- Digital scale
- Quality burr grinder
step 1: prep the AeroPress
- Place your AeroPress filter into the filter cap
- Attach filter cap to bottom of brew chamber
- Set brew chamber on top of your mug
step 2: add water
- Bring 250mL (9 fl oz) of water to a boil
- Pour 0.5 fl oz of water through the brew chamber to wet the filter and heat the mug
- Discard poured water before proceeding
step 3: grind coffee
- Finely grind 15 grams (1 heaping AeroPress scoop or 2 heaping tbsp)
- The coffee should be ground to powdered sugar consistency
- Add ground coffee to brew chamber
step 4: add more water
- Very slowly pour the remaining water into the brew chamber
- The water level should be at or slightly above the 4
- This process should take at least 15 seconds
step 5: stir the coffee
- Gently stir the coffee with a spoon or the provided stirring paddle to break up any clumps
step 6: steep the coffee
- Place the plunger into the top of the brew chamber to create a seal so that coffee will not drip into the mug
- Let the coffee steep for approximately 45 seconds
step 7: plunge AeroPress
- Place your hand on top of the plunger and push down with even pressure, forcing the brew into your mug
- Press until you hear a hissing sound; an indicator that all of the water has been pushed through the chamber
step 8: sip & enjoy
- Remove the AeroPress and smile at the steaming mug of joy you just created
- Take a sip and enjoy!
step 9: clean AeroPress
- Remove the filter cap from the brew chamber, find your compost bin and press the spent coffee grounds out
- You should see a nice, compact ‘puck’ of grounds similar to the aftermath of an espresso shot
- Rinse your AeroPress parts and air dry
- Go find a good book or turn on some tunes!
