Time To Make The Coffee

How We Brew
- Hario V60
- Hario Filters (02)
- Whole Bean Coffee (Ethiopia)
- Water Kettle
- Digital Scale
- Baratza Encore Grinder
You Brew You
- There are a number of pour-over brewers out there. Combine yours with a quality burr grinder, your kitchen scale, and something to pour semi-accurately with and you’ll be all set.

Step 1: Prep the Brewer
- Fill your kettle with boiling water and place a filter in the Hario V60.
- Set your Hario v60 on a container of your choice—a mason jar or your favorite mug will work great.
- Pour some hot water into the filter making sure you get the entire thing wet. Discard the rinse water.

Step 2: Weigh Coffee
- Use a digital scale to weigh out 15 grams of coffee.
Pro tip
If you don’t have a scale, use 2 tablespoons of ground coffee.

Step 3: Grind Coffee
- Grind coffee on the #11 setting in the Baratza Encore grinder.
- If you’re using another grinder, try to aim for a grind that is slightly more coarse than table salt.
- Add ground coffee into the filter.

Step 4: The Bloom
- Place on your scale and press the tare function.
- Pour just enough 200º water to saturate all of the grounds, around twice the weight (30 grams) of coffee.
- Let the brew rest for about 30 seconds, or until the bubbling dissipates.

Step 5: Two More Pours
- Begin slowly pouring the water in passes around the filter bed, increasing the weight of the brew by 110 grams each time until you hit 250 grams total. This slow, careful infusion is key to thoroughly saturating the grounds and achieving even extraction.
- As you pour each pass, note the color changes where you pour and do your best to make the top an even color. Focus each pour on spots that are darker or have floating grounds, etc.

Step 6: Pour and Enjoy!
